Hello.

My husband and I are planning a stay in Switzerland in mid February. We will be staying in Zurich for two nights and then moving to Lucerne for 5 nights. We'd like advice on an itinerary for that time. We'd like to take some mountain tours, see some museums, and perhaps visit some wine areas. What do you suggest with regard to sight seeing and rail passes?

Thanks for your help!

Hi JuneC, thanks for joining MySwissAlps!

Both Zurich and Lucerne have a lot to offer. I suggest you start exploring our pages on Zurich, Lucerne and the Lake Lucerne region. The "What to do" sections provide recommended activities. Based on those, you can make a list of plans. Details about each trip can be found using the timetable. Further tips on how to compose your itinerary are at www.myswissalps.com/pl antrip/doityourself/co mposeitinerary. Please note that most wine areas are in the southern part of Switzerland, quite far off from Zurich and Lucerne. Moreover, theý're not very interesting in winter.

Once you have a list of plans, you can start comparing passes as explained at www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass. If you indeed plan to focus on Zurich and the Lake Lucerne region, without making long side trips, the combination of ZurichCARDs and the Tell Pass Winter may work.

Hi June-

Basel may be the art museum "capital" of Switzerland, as little as 1 hour 1 minute from Luzern.

www.premiumswitzerland .com/switzerland-city-guides/basel-city-guide/museum.htm

Don't miss the Beyeler.

In Luzern, check the Rosengart Collection

www.luzern.com/en/rose ngart

and the small Picasso museum in the old town,

in Zürich, the Rietberg,

www.rietberg.ch/en-gb/home.aspx

and, in Winterthur, Reinhart's am Römerholz.

www.winterthur-tourismus.ch/en/oskarr einhart-roemerholz

That is short train ride from Zürich.
