Which currency to bring to Switzerand-CHF or Euro?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Ash is preparing for a three-day trip in Switzerland and needs advice on currency acceptance, specifically whether to bring CHF or if Euros and US Dollars are also usable. Additionally, they're curious if Engelberg is worth visiting from Interlaken if they won’t see Schilthorn, and they’re looking for chocolate and cheese factory tours to enjoy with their kids.

Key takeaways:
  • Bring Swiss Francs (CHF) for the best acceptance; Euros and US Dollars may not be widely accepted.
  • Engelberg offers a unique monastery and cheese-making experience, even if it’s not as scenic as other villages.
  • Check out the Chocolate Show at Schuh restaurant in Interlaken for a fun family activity.
  • Make the most of your three-day unlimited Swiss Travel Pass for easy travel across the country.

    Hi Arno and Annika,

Do I have to bring CHF only or Euro is also accepted everywhere in Switzerland? What about US$?

Another thing, If I am not going to Schilthorn, is it still worth going to Engelberg specially from Interlaken to spend a day there or it is just another mountain village like Grindlewald and Lauterbrunnen which I will cover to and from Jungfrau.

One last: can you please suggest closest Chocolate and Cheese factory tour near Interlaken where I can take the kids for fun? I have a 3 day unlimited Swiss Travel Pass.

Thanks (you guys are doing a great job by the way)

    Ash
