How to get to St. Moritz and back
St. Moritz can best be reached by train (from the directions of Zuoz and Pontresina) or bus (from the direction of Maloja and Sils).
Walking route directions
This stroll starts just outside the railway station of St. Moritz. Take the lakeside exit of the station to get there. Simply follow the signs 'Seerundweg' ('circular lake trail') until you're back at the station.

Best months for this walk
This easy hike can be done at any time of the year, early January to late February, mid April to late October and early December to late December being most attractive.
We think that March-early April and November are slightly less attractive. These are transition months from winter to spring and from fall to winter. Snow around St. Moritz isn't guaranteed and the forests may look a bit dull.
In winter, the lake of St. Moritz is usually completely frozen. This means you can even walk on the thick layer of ice, and you'll see several winter sports activities going on at the surface.

How to dress
Other than solid shoes you don't need specific gear. Just dress according to the forecasts for St. Moritz.
Best weather for this hike
This route is suitable for (nearly) dry weather. A bit of drizzle is no problem, but the hike is more enjoyable without precipitation. If you plan to walk in the Engadine in winter, make sure you have appropriate warm clothes.
