- "Grindelwald" for the train station of Grindelwald
- "Grindelwald, Bahnhof" for the bus stop at the Grindelwald train station

Recommended season for Pfingstegg
Pfingstegg is accessible from mid May to mid October. We think this entire period is suitable for a visit. We personally like the below months best for the mountain views:
- early May and June
- mid-September to mid-October
This is when there can be remaining winter snow on the surrounding mountains, or fresh snow as autumn sets in. On the other hand, July to mid-September are best for hiking. Most mountain trails are accessible then.
Weather tips and forecast
Pfingstegg is at a relatively low altitude. This means it's less likely to get covered by clouds than higher mountain destinations such as First or Männlichen. Clear skies are of course best for the mountain views from Pfingstegg, but a visit is still worth it on cloudy days. As long as it doesn't rain, you can use the toboggan run and Fly Line or go hiking.

What to do at Pfingstegg: toboggan run, Fly Line and cable car dinners
Weather permitting, you can enjoy two fun activities at Pfingstegg:
- There’s a toboggan run. It doesn’t go all the way down to Grindelwald. An automatic lift takes you back up to Pfingstegg, so you can enjoy the ride several times.
- The unique Fly Line consists of a steel construction attached to the trees. You’ll be sitting in belts hanging from the steel line, and you’ll slide down at a relaxing speed of 8-12 km/h. Once you’ve completed the 350 m-long ride along the forest, an automatic lift will take you up to Pfingstegg.
A truly special experience is dining in the Pfingstegg cable car. Advance booking is required. You can choose a romantic “Candlelight Dinner” for two, or a “Sky Dinner” for groups of up to 8 people. This meal consists of a hot-stone table grill with Swiss meat and side dishes. We’ve listed more dining options with unique views in Switzerland listed here.
The best hikes from Pfingstegg
Pfingstegg is at a special location, close to several (retreating) glaciers. It serves as a starting point for hikes through the remarkable landscape. These are our favorites:
- The scenic hiking path to restaurant Milchbach, located close to the river that springs from the Upper Grindelwald Glacier.
- The beautiful route to Berghaus Bäregg, where you’ll have views of the glacier below the Finsteraarhorn. You can dine here, or even spend the night. Experienced hikers can continue to the Schreckhorn hut.
- The hiking path to Berggasthaus Marmorbruch and Hotel-Restaurant Gletscherschlucht, both close to Grindelwald’s glacier gorge.
How long an excursion to Pfingstegg takes
A quick trip to simply enjoy the views takes about 1 to 1,5 hours. If you hike or use the toboggan run and Fly Line, this can turn into a half-day to full-day excursion.
Other excursions to enjoy on the same day
If you don’t plan long hikes, you can easily add more attractions near Grindelwald to your day trip. Examples are Männlichen, First and the nearby glacier gorge. More activities in the Jungfrau Region are can be found here.
