Snow related activities in the Swiss Alps in May

We are planning a family trip to Switzerland from May 8th to May 13th. Our 5-year-old daughter wants to do snow related activities. It could be snow tubing or something similar. We have already purchased the Swiss Travel Pass and I would like to know if there is a place where we can do this type of activity during these dates, preferably in the mountains that are included in the Swiss Travel Pass.

In case we can, is it possible to rent the clothing that is needed for them? … we are traveling from Colombia where there is not need to have this kind of things and and dont want to buy for just one use.

May is off-season, and a time of snow-melt, except at the highest altitude resorts.

Some of the higher-altitude locations are:
- Matterhorn Glacier Paradise (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/matterhorn/) and Glacier 3000 (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/glacier-3000/) – I couldn’t find any information on what snow-related activities are available in early-mid May. If you spend some time on their websites, you might find something.
- Titlis (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/titlis/) – the Trübsee Snow Park is open until 5 May 2024, so you will miss this one.
- Jungfraujoch (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/jungfraujoch/) Snow Fun Park – open from “mid-May” so might not be open yet when you are there.

As the ski season will be over, your options for renting snow-wear might be limited.

Someone else might know of a location that has snow activities in early-mid May!

Hi Carolina,

Yes, per Alpenrose’s reply, the snow season is coming to an end when you are visiting so the chances of snow activities are slim unless the snow park in Jungfraujoch opens up in time.

That said, technically, Zermatt is open 365 days a year for skiing. The full ski area closes towards the end of April but there will be areas that you can still visit and access to visit (and ski). You can read all about Zermatt and its surrounds in the attached link below:

Another location is Titlis. You could head here and similarly your daughter can see snow. Not quite the same but perhaps a compromise?

Should you decide to visit either, do check the local webcams and weather forecasts before heading up – a day before is good. You’d want to be sure the weather will be OK. Don’t buy your tickets too in advance either for this very reason.
