Nice to see you back, travlbug –
<<“We loved Switzerland so much that we have booked our flights to Zurich for June, 2016. We arrive in Zurich on June 11 and return on June 19th.”>>
Somehow, I am not surprised. My only surprise is that you booked such a short trip…;-)…jet lag will take a few days off the ability to experience the best of the trip… If you are like me, that is.
😉
I d/o not recall your specific interests … hiking, trains….??? A refresher would help.
Late June is Spring. You are coming in at the beginning of te summer season, so most but not all services (lifts, for example) may not be working.
There are approximately 2,333 (+/- 3,000) interesting places to visit in Switzerland.
What do you like?

Hi Travelbug-
I don’t know what time your plane from LA ( or wherever) arrivesin Zürich, but you might consider the visit to the Rhine Falls as a way to fill a “jet lag” afternoon on your first day.
They are certainly impressive, but don’t have the vertical drop of the falls at Niagara…either Canadian or American.
Here are some first thoughts about the Ticino.
Lugano has a lot of options….we enjoyed the short walk to Gandria, and the lake boat ride. Morcote is quite nice, too. It might not seem obvious, but the “Border Police/Customs Museum” is definitely worth a stop on the lake boat ride. Get off one, catch another later.

We’ve been to Lugano once. We have been back to Locarno several times, even though it is smaller. The Madonna del Sasso church always gets a visit from us. Nice funicular.

And, the train to Domodossola – throught the Val di Centovalli – is worth a detour. Even if the initials of the Italian name for the railroad is FART.
