We are travelling to Grindelwald via Geneva in July. We are spending a week in Grindelwald and will be travelling around the area to places like Mürren, Wengen, Jungfraujoch etc. and going hiking. After that we will return to Geneva for 2 days before leaving Switzerland. I was planning to buy a Swiss travel pass, but now I’m wondering whether to add on a Jungfrau travel pass instead/as well, as it seems to provide good value in this area. Is there an obvious answer to this? I am putting off doing the tedious work to find out fares for everything – one of the attractions of the travel passes is that we can just do whatever we want, and that suits us as we don’t really know exactly where we will be going, as weather etc can influence our choice.

Do know the best value you do indeed need to ”Do the Math” but we have a web page with instructions and an excel sheet to help you!
The Swiss Travel Pass covers virtually the whole country so if you think you will stay in the Jungfrau region mostly, than the Jungfrau Travel Pass may be best. The Regional Pass – Bernese Oberland is similar but also gives you a bigger area to explore – this may be your best option in the end. With these last 2 regional passes you will have to buy a point to point ticketfrom Geneva to Grindelwald however.
Once you have a rough outline of where you will go each day you will be able to easily narrow down the best pass for you.
