Travel pass for buses in Thun

Hi,

I am considering staying in Thun for a few days. I was informed by the hostess at the air bnb which I have selected that there is a multi day bus pass for bus rides in Thun but she was unable to shed more light into it. Could someone please let me know if they are aware of a multi day pass for bus travel in Thun and also whether I can visit a tourist centre in Thun and request for the Panaroma card after showing my confirmed booking at a hotel/house?

What kind of travel pass will you have? With the Swiss Travel Pass and the Bernese Oberland Pass, travel on buses in Thun will be covered so no need for any other pass. The excellent Tourist Office in Thun is inside the station just past the ticket counters.

Thanks. I looked at:

I now think that it may be the case that it’s given for guests who stay in hotels. I too think that air bnb may not qualify. Was not able to find specific details on the web. So I will ask the tourist office once I get there.

I am hoping to purchase the half fare card. It’s good to know about the tourist office. I will speak to them and see how it all works out.

Airbnb is a bit complex as the hosts are not professionals and may or may not stick to the rules that apply to accommodation. As far as I know they should charge tourist tax just like hotels, and if they do they should in most cases also be able to offer local guest cards to their clients. Hi Arno,

Thanks for the link on air bnb accommodation.

I wrote to the Thun tourism office and they said that if the host/hostess is registered in their association, the guests will be entitled for the Panaroma card. I think it’s related to payment of city taxes.

I bought the Swiss half fare card last time I travelled to Switzerland and used this forum to get some much needed advice. Was thankful I did!
