Hi,
we are 5 ( Two adult+ Two kids (6Y,2Y) +one infant)
We will be reaching Geneva on 29th Feb (7am Morning) then moving to montreux by train.
From montreux Planning to visit Maison Cailler (chocolate factory) as a day trip on the same day.
Is it doable? Is Montreux is right base?
Next day, would like to catch Glacier Express till chur then chur to Zurich.
From montreux how shall i get Glacier Express?
Could you please suggest a itinerary?

Montreux (http://www.myswissalps.com/montreux/activities) is a good base if you are planning to visit Chillon castle (http://www.myswissalps.com/chilloncastle) and Maison Cailler. Near Maison Cailler there is also a beautiful little town, called Gruyères, where you can find a cheese factory and a nice little medieval town with a castle.
From Geneva to Broc (Maison Cailler) via Montreux you can travel partly by the Golden Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass), this route takes 3 hours. Count around 1-2 hours for Maison Cailler. Then you go back to Chillon Castle in 2 hrs. If you want to visit the castle, it takes an other 1-2 hours. Make sure to check the opening hours before visiting.

I do not recommend to travel the whole route (from Zermatt (http://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt) to St. Moritz (http://www.myswissalps.com/stmoritz) as it would be too long. Maybe from Brig (http://www.myswissalps.com/brig) to Chur (4 hrs long trip). To get to Brig from Montreux you’ll need at least 1 hour. And in the end from Chur to Zurich count with 1,5 hours. For the details see the timetable at http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable. (Use Andermatt as a via-station for the Glacier Express from Brig to Chur). It is a total of 6,5 hours by train. Won’t be the route maybe too long for your children?
It is good to know that children under 6 years old travel for free without any passes (they still need seat reservations on Glacier Express if you want to have them a separate seat). You can reserve seats and get the train tickets if you do not have a valid rail pass at http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets.
For the 6 years old child you can buy half price train tickets by default. If you (the adults) are going to a pass of the Swiss Travel System (http://www.myswissalps.com/swissrailpasses), children above 6 will travel for free with the Swiss Family Card: http://www.myswissalps.com/swissfamilycard.

Lausanne is just 20-30 mins away from Montreux by train so, yes, still doable. We planned to Visit the places where we can play around with snow, not skiing. (we are from hot tropical country). I thought of visiting Mt.Rigi during my visit to luzern
I saw some reviews about glacier 3000. Its Looks interesting. Is it good to visit with small kids to this place?
Do i need to make a tour via Viator? or with STP we can plan alone? Could you please suggest a day trip itinerary from Lausanne to glacier 3000?

The train journey to Glacier 3000 from Lausanne will take about 2 to 2.5 hours. You need to travel to Les Diablerets via Aigle. In Les Diablerets, take Bus 180 to Col-du-Pillon where you will find the Glacier 3000 base station. If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, your trip is covered up to Col-du-Pillon. You will get a discount for the cable car ride to the top of Glacier 3000.
There is an IR train from Lausanne to Les Diablerets via Aigle at 8.50am. If you take this train, you will reach Glacier 3000 at around 10.26am. For other connections, please use the SBB timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable
