Hi
We plan to do Jungfrajoch and Schilthorn on the same day. We will be based in Interlaken for 2 nights. What is the best possible route to cover these 2 sites and also recommendations for any other sites as well.
Thank you
Lisha

Hello Lisa,
Interlaken – Grindelwald – Jungfraujoch- Lauterbrunnen.
From Lauterbrunnen a very nice circuit to do is to Grütschalp (cable car), Mürren (train), Gimmelwald (cable car), Stechelberg (cable car), Lauterbrunnen (bus). From Mürren you can easily visit Schiltorn (don’t miss The Thrill Walk at Birg) and even Allmendhubel if you have time (and it is operating). In between Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen the bus stops at the Trummelbach Falls. Well worth a look.
Start early – it will be a long day.

AnnaModerator6407 posts21 February 2020 at 22:35:53 #930608Hi Catchlisha,
I would take the earliest train from Interlaken to Kleine Scheidegg via Grindelwald. Then take the Jungfraubahn from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch. Heading down I will go via Wengen to Lauterbrunnen. In Lauterbrunnen, take the bus to Stechelberg and take the cable car up to Schilthorn. Onthe way down stop in Birg and Gimmelwald. Walk to Murren and take the mountain railway and cable car back to Lauterbrunnen.
You’ll find the routes explained in clear details in the links below:

- Schilthorn: http://www.myswissalps.com/schilthorn/gettingthere

Anna recommends doing the Mürren “circuit” clockwise. I prefer the other direction because:
- You get up to Schilthorn quicker – it is not uncommon for clouds to roll in in the afternoon.
- The drop off from Gimmelwald to Stechelberg is much more “exciting” than going up from Stechelberg.
- You get the opportunity to stop at Trummelbach falls only if you have time rather than doing that on the way to Schilthorn.
I’m not sure why Anna suggests going down to Gimmelwald and walking back up to Mürren which you would have already passed through on the way to from Birg to Gimmelwald. It’s not even clear whether that walk would be open in April.
BTW you can buy a 25% discount ticket from Grindelwald to Wengen via Jungfraujoch. The rest of the trip (apart from Mürren to Schilthorn) will be covered by your Swiss Travel Pass (which I think you will have). You will need to buy it at a station but you can do it the night before at Interlaken if you want to save time.
If you are in Interlaken for 2 days keep a close eye on the weather. Ask the locals and make this excursion on the most favourable weather day.

Thank you for your reply. So your suggestion is
To Jungfrajoch: Interlaken – Grindelwald – Jungfraujoch
Spend time in Jungfrajoch
To Schilthorn: Jungfrajoch – Lauterbrunnen- Grütschalp- Murren – Schilthorn.
Am I right?

Supplementing Rockoyster’s coment:

here is an excellent source of information –
