72 Waterfalls

Short summary – read this first

A traveler wants to know when the best time is to see the 72 waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen valley. They are particularly interested in timing their visit to get a good view of most of the waterfalls and are seeking advice on this. It's noted that June is a great time, as the snow melts but not all waterfalls will be fully visible.

Key takeaways:
  • Visit in June to see many waterfalls, as this is when the snow melts.
  • Not all 72 waterfalls will be strong; some may only be a trickle.
  • For hiking and better visibility, mild weather in late spring is preferable.
  • Make sure to check out the famous Staubbach waterfall, which is easy to access.
  • Consider using the Swiss Travel Pass for convenient travel around the area.

Just as the snow is finishing melting at lower elevations, usually June. However, you will never see all 72. Some of them are barely a trickle of water down the mountain, not really visible but I guess “counts” as a waterfall for those doing the counting.

You can always see Staubbach (just outside of Lauterbrunnen) and the fall at the end of the valley (above Obersteinberg).

When are the best time of the year to see almost all of the 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen valley?”

It’s not when, but how, I believe. If you prefer to Hike then temperate weather is more ideal.
