An alternative to Bernina Express in November
Patricia from Buenos Aires is looking to travel from Milano to Tirano in November to see the Alps, but the Bernina Express isn’t running. She wants advice on which train to take from Tirano to enjoy snowy views, especially since St. Moritz might seem dull in November.
- You can take regular trains on the Bernina Railway from Tirano to St. Moritz to enjoy the same stunning views as the Bernina Express.
- Consider an alternative trip from Milan to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn, which only takes about 3.5 hours one way.
- Regular trains run on scenic routes, so you can still enjoy the scenery even if the Bernina Express is out of service.

Hi, I’m Patricia from Buenos Aires and I’m travelling to Milano in November. Sadly I’ve found out that the Bernina Express does not run on early November, and I really really wanted to see the Alps during a train trip.
So I’ve seen that there is a train from Milano to Tirano, as a first step. That I can do.
But then, what do you recommend me to do in order to have a nice view of the alps, glaciars, tunnels and snowy views?
Which train should I take from Tirano? I was thinking maybe a Tirano to St. Moritz train, but St.Moritz looks pretty “bleak” in November, moreover on a Sunday, which is the day I have to do such trip.
Is there a route that you can suggest me to see the Alps by train? I really like snowy pikes, glaciars and tunnels.
Thank you so much for your help and sorry if my English is not that good ♥
