Hi Paul,

Basel would be my choice.

You could possibly visit Bern from Lucerne or Wengen. You’d probably have to switch trains in Bern on the way to Wengen so that would present a good opportunity for a quick tour.

Thanks for the advise!

Just wondering if I can do Basel in the morning (9-12) and take the train from Basel to Bern (1 hr train) and do Bern from 1-5 then back to Zurich.

Yes, I can visit Bern on my way from Wengen to Montreux but I am not sure about the luggage storage in Bern station.

Combining day trips to Basel and Bern in 1 day is definitely doable. It depends on your plans and how much time you want to spend in each city.
