Montreux and Lucerne as bases? Best cash exchange
A traveler named Snehap is arriving in Geneva on May 5th and plans to stay for one day in Montreux and then four nights in Lucerne before heading to Italy. They are looking for advice on whether Lucerne is a good base, where to exchange euros for Swiss francs, and if they should buy francs in UAE or wait until arriving in Switzerland.
- Montreux and Lucerne are popular bases for tourists, depending on what you want to see.
- Consider using the Swiss Travel Pass for train travel to cover costs effectively.
- Exchange your euros at banks or train stations for better rates; avoid Travelex if possible.
- ATM withdrawals often offer competitive exchange rates and are safer than carrying cash.
- You can check exchange rates online through sites like Bloomberg before making any currency exchanges.
