Charles Kounen suspension bridge hike in May
A traveler is planning a hike from Randa in mid-May and has just 3 nights in Zermatt. They want to know if the trail to the bridge will be open and safe for hiking at that time. The advice suggests that the bridge typically opens in June, and it's better to plan for a later date.
- The bridge and trail usually open in June, so reconsider your timing for a safer hike.
- Check with the Zermatt tourist office for up-to-date conditions when you arrive.
- While the trail isn't officially closed in May, hiking then could be dangerous due to weather conditions.

Hello! We are planning to do this hike from Randa mid May 2019. we only have 3 nights in Zermatt and want to optimise our chances of making the hike, depending on the weather/rain.
would the trail up to the bridge be open and accessible then? Or should we plan for a later date?
thank you for any advice!
