Christmas Eve dinner in Zermatt options?
A traveler is planning a trip to Zermatt from December 23rd to 26th and is looking for Christmas Eve dinner recommendations for a group of four adults and four children. They also want suggestions for activities or lunch on Christmas Day, noting that many shops will be closed during this time.
- For a festive dinner, consider dining at Stockhorn Grill and Walliserstube, which has great reviews.
- On Christmas Day, the best plan is to have lunch at high-altitude spots like Gornergrat or Klein Matterhorn since many shops will be closed.
- If staying at a hotel, check out their restaurants as many local eateries may not operate during the holidays.
- Look into the Swiss Travel Pass for convenient travel around Zermatt and discounts on mountain excursions.

Hi there, we’re going to be in Zermatt from 23rd to 26th December and would love to get recommendations for a Christmas eve dinner for a party of 4 adults & 4 kids (ages from 5 to 10). We’ve read about Stockhorn Grill but would be great to have a few more options.
And for Christmas Day, I read that all (or most) of the shops would be closed and a great way to spend the day would be lunch up in the mountains – appreciate recommendations there too or anywhere else you folks would think we’d have fun.
Thanks in advance.
