Train route options from Chur to Lucerne
A traveler named Marion is exploring the best rail trip options from Chur to Lucerne, considering routes via Zurich and Andermatt. She's uncertain about taking a boat on the last leg with her luggage and seeks advice on her travel plans.
- You can take the scenic route via Andermatt without a boat if you prefer, but taking a boat on Lake Lucerne is fine with luggage too.
- For a truly scenic experience, consider the Glacier Express from Chur to Andermatt and then the Gotthard Panorama route to Lucerne.
- Use the Swiss Timetable to easily plan your trip by entering the routes, like 'Chur via Andermatt', and remember to check separately for boat schedules.

I wonder if anyone has any comments regarding the best rail trip from Chur to Lucerne. I know I can travel from Chur via Zurich to Lucerne but, looking at the maps I feel I should be able to travel via Andermatt but I think there is a boat required on the last leg and I am not sure whether that would be a good idea with luggage?
