Are their any cow tours where I can pet a cow in Switzerland?

Short summary – read this first

Jan O is excited about her upcoming trip to Switzerland and loves animals, especially cows. She's concerned about safety while hiking near cows and is looking for farm tours where she can interact with friendly cows. She's also planning to visit other animal attractions like a llama/alpaca tour in Lauterbrunnen and follow Valais Blacknose Sheep.

Key takeaways:
  • Keep a safe distance from cows while hiking to avoid accidents.
  • Consider visiting Kabier farm in Appenzell Ausserrhoden for supervised interactions with cows.
  • Don't miss the llama/alpaca tour in Lauterbrunnen for a fun animal experience.
  • Look out for other local farms that may offer friendly animal encounters.

    Good Morning,
I love, love, love the cows, but I read that you should not even make eye contact with them while hiking and keep your distance. (I have read that there are deaths every year from cows!) All of that info makes me incredibly sad, and I would still like to hug a cow. Do you know of any farm tours in Switzerland that have “friendly” cows that I could visit, have a chat with, and maybe pet? We are going to be in various parts of Switzerland. (I have seen the LLama/Alpaca tour in Lauterbrunnen, and yes I will do that, too! AND I will be following around the Valais Blacknose Sheep…I love the animals!)
    Thank you,
    Jan O

    Hi JanO,

Correct, you should keep your distance from cows and not approach them.

You may want to contact the Kabier farm in Appenzell Ausserrhoden. Their email address is [email protected]  They offer tours of their farm and you maybe able to be close up to a cow under supervision.

    Good luck.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda
