It takes about 4 hours until Lucerne, depending on the boat connection. This is without breaks. I would at least take a break at the top (Rigi Kulm) to enjoy the views, and possibly in Rigi Kaltbad as well, or go for a short hike on the mountain.

You’re welcome! It’s the same side of the mountain, so no major difference. The cable car might be nice to add another mode of transport that day. But you need to walk a bit more once down to reach the boat: 10-12 minutes, versus 1 minute in Vitznau.
