Day trip to Bern in end of May on a Sunday
A traveler is planning a day trip to Bern on a Sunday at the end of May. They want to know if it's still worth visiting given that many places might be closed, and they are interested in sightseeing, especially the Old Town and popular landmarks like the Federal Palace and Einstein Museum. They are looking for insights on which places will be open and any additional recommendations.
- Most shops in the city center will be closed on Sunday, but some, like those at the main railway station, remain open.
- Restaurants may be closed, but places like Altes Tramdepot usually operate on Sundays.
- All the landmarks on your list, including the Bern Minster and Zytglogge clock tower, can be visited on a Sunday.

Hi,
I’m planning a day trip to Bern during my travel to Switzerland, and based on my itinerary I’m only able to travel to Bern on a Sunday (End of May).
I’ve read a lot that Sunday most places are closed, and wanted to get opinion of the folks who have travelled there before to see if it’s still worth it to go. Below are few of things I would like to do .
Walk around the Old Town.
Head over to the federal capital/parliament building.
Einsteinhaus -Einstein Museum
Bear Pit
Bern Minster
Zytglogge clock tower from 12th century
Will restaurants and shops be open in Old town? And is there anything else you would recommend me to do?
Thank you!
