    Hi,

I’m planning a day trip to Bern during my travel to Switzerland, and based on my itinerary I’m only able to travel to Bern on a Sunday (End of May).

I’ve read a lot that Sunday most places are closed, and wanted to get opinion of the folks who have travelled there before to see if it’s still worth it to go. Below are few of things I would like to do .

    Walk around the Old Town.

Head over to the federal capital/parliament building.

    Einsteinhaus -Einstein Museum

    Bear Pit

    Bern Minster

Zytglogge clock tower from 12th century

Will restaurants and shops be open in Old town? And is there anything else you would recommend me to do?

    Thank you!

    Hi Simba0127!

If shopping and dining aren’t your primary goal, a visit to Bern would be fine on a Sunday. Most shops will indeed be closed, except for those at the main railway station. Restaurants can be closed too, but others are open, e.g. Altes Tramdepot: altestramdepot.ch.

The destinations on your list can all be viewed on a Sunday. More suggestions are at https://www.myswissalps.com/bern.

Sunday is fine for sightseeing and museums. However most city centre shops will be closed.
