Dogsledding near Interlaken in December

Short summary – read this first

Kandis is planning a trip to Interlaken in December 2023 and is looking for options for dogsledding in the area. While local options might be limited, she received suggestions for alternative activities like traditional sledding and information on Glacier 3000 for dogsledding, which is a bit of a journey from Interlaken.

Key takeaways:
  • Check out traditional Swiss sledding or tobogganing in the Jungfrau region near Interlaken for a fun winter experience.
  • For dogsledding, Glacier 3000 is your best bet, but it's about 2.5 to 3 hours from Interlaken by train, so plan accordingly.
  • Take the scenic Golden Pass train from Interlaken to Gstaad to reach Glacier 3000.
  • Beatenberg, only about 12km from Interlaken, offers sledding with beautiful views of the Bernese Alps.

    Hi Kandis,

I’m not sure there are dog- sledding activities in Interlaken. However you might want to try traditional Swiss sledding or tobogganing which is quite a popular winter sport in the Jungfrau region. You can find further details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/activities/winter/snow

    Hello Kandis

If there is enough snow, it would be possible to sledge in Beatenberg from Niederhorn mountain. From there you also have a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps.

    Have a great trip!

    Hi Kandis,

If you are really keen to experience some dogsledding, your best bet is visiting the Glacier 3000. Dogsledding is seasonal so do check the website for updates. It’s quite a journey from Interlaken (we are looking at approximately 2.5 to 3 hours by train.

    Goodmorning,

“it would be possible to sledge in Beatenberg from Niederhorn mountain. From there you also have a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps.” Is there a link that you could send me,? How far is this from Interlaken and what would be the best way to get there?

Glacier3000, what train would my sons need to take and would it be possible to book one of the scenic trains for them,?Im leaning toward the Glacier3000 as there is a snowpack as well.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys and ladies.

    Hi Kandis,

You can find information on how to travel to Glacier 3000 here: http://www.myswissalps.com/glacier3000/gettingthere

If you’re travelling from Interlaken, the best and scenic way is to take the Golden Pass train to Gstaad.

    Hope this helps.

    Anna
