Early June – Hiking the Matterhorn Glacier Trail
A traveler named Ngkaiyi is planning to hike the Matterhorn Glacier Trail in early June. They're unsure if the trail will be open and safe to hike since the cable car from Furi to Trockener Steg starts operating on June 17, but other cable cars are already running. Ngkaiyi seeks advice on accessing Trockener Steg to start their hike.
- Check the webcam for trail conditions right before your hike to be aware of any snow.
- The cable car from Furi to Trockener Steg runs all year, so you can still reach the hike's start point.
- The cable car from Trockener Steg to Schwarzsee opens on May 29, allowing you to take the lift down after your hike.

Dear all,
I am looking to hike the Matterhorn Glacier Trail in early June this year. However, I would like to check if the trail will be open / safe to hike on during that period.
This is because I note from the Matterhorn Paradise website that the cablecar from Furi to Trockener Steg (where the hike begins) only opens on 17 June 2023. However, the cablecars from Zermatt to Furi to Schwarzsee to Furgg to Trockener Steg are already open. As such, I would like to know if it is possible for me to get to Trockener Steg this way (and then hike from Trockener Steg down to Schwarzsee).
Many thanks in advance!
