Eiger North Face – August climbers?
Judy and her husband are planning a trip to Interlaken in August, with a focus on the Jungfrau excursion from Grindelwald. She is eager to see climbers on the North Face and wants advice on the best vantage points for viewing them during their visit.
Consider taking the gondola to Maennlichen for the best views of the Eiger North Face and bring good binoculars to see climbers. Kleine Scheidegg is another recommended spot for observing climbers, but it’s still over 3 km away, so plan for a longer viewing break. For a unique perspective, try about 25% along the Eiger Trail from Eigergletscher Station, where you can lie down and use binoculars.

My husband and I will be staying in Interlaken for several days this coming August. At the top of our to-do list is the Jungfrau excursion – assuming from town of Grindelwald. I have a tremendous interest in all things mountaineering, and am hoping to possibly see climbers on the North Face. From what I’ve read, climbing the North Face does take place during the months of July and August – is that accurate? If so, are there any particularly good vantage points in Grindelwald? Thank you in advance for any information you might provide. Judy
