Hi,

Would like to quickly check if, to attractions like Schilthorn, Rochers de Naye, Brienz Rothorn, there is an entry fee as well. I know depending on the rail pass, you pay (or don’t) for travel but after that, how does it work?

To attractions, where your pass offers a discount, do you buy the entry tickets on the day? In that case, do you run a risk of it being sold out?

There is no additional “entry fee” for any of the excursions you list. If you plan to do them all I’d suggest the Swiss Travel Pass is your best bet.

You probably already know this but you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to all the available passes. Be sure to check the “where it’s valid” tab for each pass you are considering.

I can add a bit from my experience and will request experts to correct if there need be.

For attractions like schilthorn, even if its covered fully under the Swiss Pass, you are still expected to buy the ticket at the cable car station. When you display your swiss pass, they will provide you the ticket at no cost ( or otherwise by charging whatever is appropriate )

You will need to get the ticket because there are turnstiles at the cable car stations and you got to scan the bar code printed on the ticket to open those gates

I have not read or heard about ‘sold out’ instance but I would leave that for the experts to answer.

As already mentioned, the destinations you mention do not have any extra activities including costs.

Thankyou everyone. Since you mentioned the passes, I did the math and weirdly, what seemed to be the best deal, was the combo of the Montreux riviera card & the BO regional pass. (We are spending 3 nights in Montreux & 4 in Lauterbrunnen) don’t know if that’s incorrect. The next in line was the STP.

I have already posted in the forum re the rail passes and hope you get some insight on that.

Thanks again… I can’t help but mention how useful this forum has been. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without it!
