How does the Eurail Global Pass work in Switzerland?
A traveler is planning a 15-day trip through Europe in September, including France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Hungary. They are considering the Global Eurail Pass for their travels and need specific advice on using the pass for discounts on Swiss cable car tickets and other transportation. They are unsure about booking methods and availability of tickets for their desired routes.
- Always check if you need to reserve seats for certain routes with the Eurail Pass.
- To get discounts for cable cars and local travel, it's best to buy tickets in person at the ticket office.
- The Swiss Travel Pass is worth considering for extensive travel within Switzerland for more discounted options.

Hi All,
Me and my friend are going to europe trip for 15 days covering France, Swiss, Italy, Austria and Hungary in Sept.
And we are planning to buy Global Eurail pass, and I notice that eurail pass is now covering Swiss (Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunen, Wengen, Murren etc which we will visit) include cable car etc with 25-50% discount.
This is my first time using eurail tho, we just plan trip and using our pass and hop in hop out (right?)
For some route we cannot find it in eurail pass or we need to reserve seat. But if we book it online it wont show 25-50% discount. Can we buy it online and get discount or it only available when buy directly and show our Eurail pass?
For example from Grindelwald-First, is the ticket always available if we buy offline? Is it also apply to many cable car in swiss to just buy ticket in locket?
Thank you so much for the help.
