thank you for going through the excel sheet.

I have found the mistakes and updated the excel sheet.

My plan in switzerland is from 1st to 5th Nov,2022.

If i opt for 4day EURAIL global pass then i would be using it on DAY1, Day4,Day5 and Day8 of my Itenary. As EURAIL pass wont be of any use on Zermatt route.

Now calculation has fallen down to STP (587 Chf) and EURAIl pass (596 Chf).

Whether i must opt for STP(4day pass) with ease of use in switzerland or else i can go for EURAIL pass also?

My journey from basel to Paris is fixed at 10:30am (direct train).

In case i opt for EURAIL pass then can i consider a one day CAR hire for Zermat trip? We are a couple travelling together.

(for Zermatt trip i need to anyways purchase two day saver passes of 52CHF if i opt for EURAIL global pass)

I know i am complicating a bit, but just for sake of exploring all possible options i am asking in this forum.

i have Attached Revised Excel Sheet with clarity.

Regarding Jungfraujoch , we are travelling in November 1st week so price would be 162.6 CHF and discount with EURAIL pass is 25% only. (net price 122CHF) (http://www.eurail.com/en/get-inspired/top-destinations/switzerland-train/swiss-railway-companies-discounted).

Don’t forget you can buy a Saver Day Pass without holding any other pass or card,

See my comment on this earlier discussion thread

so renting a car for a trip to Zermatt is not a good idea at all in my opinion, given how much paperwork and ‘wasted’ time required for a car rental also for the following reasons:

    1) you can only drive as far as Tasch, and the road is not fast

    2) you must pay for the parking garage in Tasch

    3) and still also pay for the shuttle train Tasch – Zermatt

    Hi SHANKY1987,

Based on your latest calculation, I would choose the Swiss Travel Pass over the Eurail Global Pass as the difference is insubstantial. A Swiss Travel Pass provides more flexibility in case you have to change your plans at the last minute due to the weather for example. Renting a car would just add to your cost as you would need to consider paying for parking and fuel. Also I agree with 1960man, you can’t drive all the way to Zermatt and would still need to pay for the train ticket between Täsch and Zermatt.

    Regards,

i would go with swiss pass now.

I was planing for zermatt , so i wanted to know whether we can do both Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier paradise in one day? i would be travelling from interlaken to zermatt and then starting my excursion for gornergrat.

Can you please guide me regarding cost for single gornergrat and whether it is possible to visit both with a peak pass of one day?

    Hi SHANKY1987,

Theoretically it’s possible to visit Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in one day. If you’re planning a day trip from Interlaken, bear in mind that the journey takes about 2.5 hours so start early as possible. Also take note that in winter, it gets dark early. Due to the short daylight hours, it might be practical just to stick to one mountain excursion or maybe spend a night in Zermatt so you’ll have more time to enjoy two mountain excursions.

Between 1 Nov and 2 Dec however, the gondola connecting Riffelberg and Furi is under maintenance: https://www.myswissalps.com/kleinmatterhorn/gettingthere. So to get to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, you have to take the cable car from Zermatt.

    Regards,

    Anna
