Fear of heights & Mt Pilatus trip
A traveler is planning a trip to Mt. Pilatus with her husband, who has a fear of heights. She seeks ways to minimize his anxiety during the journey, especially while using the cogwheel train and reaching Fräkmüntegg for tobogganing. She's asking for advice on alternative transportation and insights regarding the toboggan experience.
- Consider taking the cogwheel train to Pilatus, but be aware that it can be steep, which may be challenging for someone with a fear of heights.
- The gondola ride from Kriens to Fräkmüntegg is a gentler option for traveling with someone afraid of heights.
- If needed, you can take the gondola down after the toboggan for a more comfortable return trip.

In reading an earlier post and your response to a traveler’s fear of heights and Mt. Pilatus….My husband also has a fear of heights and I’m trying to find a way to make the whole experience less frightening for him. I was thinking of taking the cog wheel up/down to Pilatus. However, I would like to go to Frakmuntegg to do the toboggan. Is there any way to get there other than the cable car/gondola? In regards to the toboggan, what would this experience be for one with a fear of heights? Is this something I’ll need to do by myself?
Thanks for your advice!
