Hello

I will be travelling to Swiss with STP and I know that excursions to Jungfrau / Mt. Titlis / Mt. Pilatus will incur additional ticket charges although at a discount because of the STP. I had read in somewhere (and unable to find it now) that certain activities (like snow park, etc) are free in some mountains whereas chargeable in others. Would you know which activities are free at each of these mountains alongwith STP so that we will not do those paying activities and rather do similar activities on other mountains where it is free.

There are very few things that aren’t covered either by the Swiss Travel Pass or the discounted mountain access ticket you buy with it. Any additional charges would be minimal in comparison to the ticket prices and are not a good reason to base your decision on which mountain to visit.

Thanks. The reason for knowing is because if activity is similar then I better not spend and do it at another mountain where it is free.

All those mountains offer completely different experiences. Go with the flow and enjoy whatever comes your way.

Agree with rockoyster on different experiences on each mount

I have been to Mt Titlis and Schilthorn. Couldnt visit Matterhorn Glacier Paradise due to weather and can talk from my experience

We could find a snow park only on TItlis at Trubsee which is one of the cable car stations on the way up. When the snow park is at Trubsee it is freely accessible. In summers when the snow melts, the snow park is moved up to higher altitude. I believe that is accessible only after you buy the ticket for Ice Flyer Chair lift which costs extra.

Even the snow was much more accessible at Mt Titlis and we could walk ( and even slip and fall down 🙂 ) and kids could play with snow. There was also the cliff walk thing at Mt Titlis ( no extra charge unless you want to click a picture )

Contrary to that, Schilthorn was a dampener because at the summit, there was a viewing platform which was fenced and we couldn’t go past that. ..so essentially there was nothing we cud do. It was cloudy and slightly rainy too hence we spent most times indoor . We got down later at Birg and walked on the cliff walk . But we couldnt see any snow park there.

I am not sure how are things different on Pilatus, Jungfraujoch and MGP on the snow park aspect.

Rohan has provided some recent experiences. Pilatus does not have snow activities but you can get off the cable way on the way up from Kriens and enjoy some “tobogganing”. See http://www.pilatus.ch/en/disc over/fraekigaudi-toboggan-run/.

I repeat – all the mountains you have listed are unique. You won’t be doubling up on any experiences.

For Jungfraujoch, while many activities like Ice Palace are free, the Snow Fun Park are not.

On Mount Titlis there is a snow activity available on the mountain, in the summer months only accessible through the chair-lift “Ice Flyer” from the peak which I believe is NOT included in the Swiss Travel Pass, but also only costs about 10.- p.P. In the winter months this snow activity in on lower altitudes and can be accessed for free.

On the peak of Mount Pilatus there are normally NO snow activities available and the mountain also doesn’t have snow all year round like Jungfraujoch and Titlis. There are some hikes available do to and of course the stunning views to enjoy.
