Visiting Harder Kulm: when to buy tickets, validity and last ascent?

Short summary – read this first

Bheemesh is planning a trip to Interlaken on June 10th and wants to know how early to buy tickets for the Funicular Harder Kulm. He's also curious if pre-purchased tickets allow entry at any time and what the last trip time is.

Key takeaways:
  • Buy your Funicular tickets as soon as your plans are confirmed to avoid missing out, especially since tickets can sell out quickly.
  • Your ticket for the Funicular Harder Kulm is valid all day, allowing you to choose any timeslot on your booking day.
  • The last trip from Interlaken to Harder Kulm on June 10th is at 20:40h.
  • Consider visiting during the early morning or late afternoon to avoid potential crowds during nice weather.

    Hello,

First thing on Funicular Harder Kulm, how early we need to purchase tickets as we are visiting Interlaken on 10th June noon.
Also if we buy tickets in advance can we visit the funicular for any timeslot for the booking day? What is the last trip time from Interlaken to up-hill?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Bheemesh

    Hi Bheemesh,

I think our Harder Kulm guide will help you out with your visit to Harder Kulm 🙂  Here’s the link with all the relevant information:

The last funicular heading up on the 10th June will be at 20:40h and your ticket will be valid all day. (You can use the Swiss timetable to research this journey (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/public-transport/timetable/)).  Handy online purchase options for your tickets can be found in the link too.  I’d buy the ticket once your plans are confirmed and also I’d check the weather forecast will be OK before committing to the trip.

    Have fun.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda

Thank you Yolanda for the details and suggestions.  The weather is main reason why I was delaying my decision to buy tickets, but few of the tourist package portals were showings tickets sold out for full month of June for Funicular. So got little nervous and found your mail with details which are quite helpful.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Bheemesh

    Hi Bheemesh,

During fine weather, it may get busier as more visitors are keen to reach the top to enjoy the views.  It could mean queues could be long and you’ll just need to wait before you can board.

If you are flexible and the weather is looking good for the 10th June, perhaps an early start can help to avoid crowds or go late afternoon when most may have already had their visit.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda
