Germany to Switzerland border (swiss customs)

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a train trip from Lindau, Germany, to Luzern, Switzerland, with a train change in Zurich. They want to know if they can take food and cooking products like oil spray, fruit, and cereal across the border. Bringing these items into Switzerland should be fine, as customs checks are rare on trains.

Key takeaways:
  • You can generally bring small food items and household products like cooking oil and cereal when traveling to Switzerland.
  • Customs officials are not commonly found on trains, making it easy to transport personal items.
  • Always check local regulations for any specific restrictions on food before your trip.

People in Switzerland regularly cross the border into Germany to do their shopping at cheaper EU prices. So that’ s pretty much the same as your situation. You won’t see a Customs official on a train.
