Glacier Express now free with Eurail and Interrail
A traveler shares updates on the Glacier Express route now being mostly free with Eurail and Interrail Passes starting January 1. They point out that while all of the route is included for free, a reservation still costs extra. This is good news for those considering these passes for their trips.
- If you have a Eurail or Interrail Pass, you can enjoy the entire Glacier Express route for free, but remember that seat reservations will still cost you extra.
- The Swiss Travel Pass offers broader benefits and might be worth considering if you're planning extensive travel within Switzerland.

Dear travelers,
As of January 1, 2017, the entire Glacier Express route is free with a Eurail or Interrail Pass. Until then, travelers only get part of the route for free, and the other part is discounted. Please see here for what’s included:
Even though the Swiss Travel System Passes include much more than Eurail, this change is very welcome and does make the Eurail and Interrail passes more attractive for certain itineraries, and also simpler to use.
Glacier Express seat reservations are not free, regardless of which pass you have.
