Yes you can use a 1st Class Saver Day Pass. The fare is not where the expense comes in. The mandatory reservations for the Excellence Class are the big ticket items and they are the things that get you the food and booze. I think from memory the cost of 1st Class Fare and Seat Reservations runs to about CHF650 or thereabouts.

Thank you, yes on further investigation I note that 1st class and excellence are different, the reservation for excellence is 420chf, sadly even though we australians we could not consume that much booze and food in single train journay, but we would give it very good attempt LOL

Yes just now….for us i think we could get really blitzed for about half the cost of excellence ticket…650sf is a big big bucket of booze..i think we probably like to remember the trip rather than passout half way through by trying to get our moneys worth ..to each his/her own i guess
