Bought Golden Pass ticket, still need reservation?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler has booked tickets for the 09:44 Golden Pass Panoramic train from Montreux to Interlaken Ost via Zweisimmen and is wondering if they need a seat reservation. It turns out that seat reservations are not included with the ticket and are only recommended during peak tourist season for certain segments of the journey.

Key takeaways:
  • Seat reservations are separate from train tickets, so you'll need to reserve a seat for the Golden Pass Panoramic train if you want one.
  • Reserving a seat is recommended for the Montreux to Zweisimmen segment during peak season due to high demand.
  • You can make seat reservations through the official Golden Pass website, where you can select your preferred seating and travel options.

    Hello,

Via the http://www.sbb.ch” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”> sbb website I have purchased tickets from Montreux to Interlaken Ost via Zweisimmen. I have selected the 09.44 train which I believe is the Golden Pass Panoramic train. Do I also need to purchase a seat reservation, or is this included within the ticket for the train I’ve chosen?

    Thank you for your help!

Hallo Hans and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Train tickets do not include seat reservations. The 9:44 departure is indeed a Golden Pass MOB Panoramic.

You can make reservations for the Golden Pass Line (http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass) including seat selection at bit.ly/2kaq6Rf. Click the “e” for English language top right of the page. (where it says “Sprachwahl: d i f e”). Then change the class of travel, date of travel and start/end points to suit. Reservations are not compulsory but are recommended on the Zweisimmen to Montreux leg (which is where the Panoramic and Belle Époque trains operate) during peak tourist season.

Hi Hana! As mentioned by Rockoyster, seat reservations are different from tickets. It’s explained at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/reservations/howto use. Note that Golden Pass seat reservations are not obligatory. They’re only recommended for the leg Montreux-Zweisimmen in tourist high season. You’ll find details and reservation options through http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/tickets.
