hi

i am planning a trip where i will stay in lucern for 4 days and the take golden pass to reach montreux. can i travel with my luggage in this train. I will be buying swiss pass. Do i need to do reservation for the same.

in montreux, i am planning to go to glacier 3000. Please tell me if i go to gstaad by train and then take bus, so the bus is covered under swiss pass. If not then what is the price.

what are the expenses which will be incurred on glacier 3000.

Hey divyamodi!

Believe me, based on my experience, I’ve never had a single issue with the swiss transport system. Not even with too much luggage! You can easily carry your luggage in any train, bus or tram.

Your entire trip that you’ve explained above is covered by the swiss travel pass, except for glacier 3000 cable car, for which you’ll be getting 50% on the tickets. That would be around 40 chf (after the 50% off) for a round trip. But please do confirm on the SBB website or app just in case if there are any changes.

Its my personal opinion that there’s no need of reserving seats for the golden pass trains. But if you have a very fixed schedule, you may go ahead with it. We hadn’t reserved any seats, and easily found place in the trains (including the panoramic one from zweisimmen to Montreux) without reservations.

pilatus can be reached from luzern

it is free with swiss travel pass

one has to catch cruise from luzern to alpnachstad

from alpnachstad to kulm pilatus by cogwheel train

from top to bottom by cable car

all is free with swiss travel pass

And what about glacier 3000 . How to reach there with Swiss pass . How will be the weather in august there . Is it worth going with elders and kids along.

The final destination to use is “Glacier-des-Diablerets”. From Montreux you can go via train to Gstaad; or train to Les Diablerets via Aigle; then bus from Gstaad or Les Diablerets to the stop called “Col-du-Pillon, Glacier 3000”.
