After just a short period of operation, it has been discovered that the newly designed wheelsets are causing damage to main line tracks between Zweisimmen and Interlaken, so the new GoldenPassExpress has been curtailed to run just on the narrow gauge (like all the other MOB trains) Montreux – Zweisimmen. It therefore is currently necessary to change trains at Zweisimmen, even on the new GoldenPassExpress.

Where can we check for updates on this? I would like to ride on it in the summer from Interlaken Ost to Zweisimmen.

This news came to me via a travel forum, but I then checked it on the MOB railway web site, so they will keep everyone up to date as time goes on.

However this is something that may or may not be resolved quickly

oh dear, i have paid for prestige class reservations for my party (and choosing it over the belle epoque experience). Any chance i can ask for a refund if it doesn’t get resolved by my travel date?

Just to clarify. The new train is still running on the traditional MOB railway Montreux – Zweisimmen, just the same as the Belle Epoque train does. You would get a normal BLS railway train Zweisimmen – Interlake Ost

Hello all of you very helpful people,

My plan in September was to ride the GoldenPass Express from Interlaken OST to Montreux, in Prestige class, and return trip same day. I was sorry to hear about the track issues that recently came up.

Question #1 : Is this correct…With the recent changes, will I now catch the ” regular” GoldenPass Train (not GoldenPass Express) from Interlaken OST to Zeissman?

Question#2: WIll the GoldenPass Train only have 2nd and 1st class? Not Prestige class?

Question #3: Then at Zeissman station, will I then get off the GoldenPass Train and change platforms to get on the GoldenPass Express Train, and ride in Prestige Class, to Montreux? (since this portion of the track will be fine)

Question #4: If the GoldenPass Train does not have a Prestige class from Interlaken OST to Zeissman, and I ride 1st class, then I ride Prestige class halfway from Zeissman to Montreux , how is this going to be charged because of dividing up the two classes?

Hi Jers,

The Golden Pass train service between Interlaken and Montreux is still running. However, due to technical malfunction the direct service is currently interrupted so in the meantime travellers will need to switch trains in Zweisimmen. The section between Interlaken and Zweisimmen will be serviced by regular BLS trains, as per previous Golden Pass service, until the technical issue is resolved. Hopefully this won’t take long. You can still ride in the Prestige Class from Zweisimmen to Montreux but between Interlaken and Zweisimmen, the MOB might provide other options or resolutions for those who booked seats in Prestige Class. You can contact the MOB for further clarification.
