    Hi LightPackerC!

You can have a look at this page for the map and more info: http://www.zermatt.ch/en/Medi a/Attractions/Gorner-gorge

And then input “Gornergorge, 3920 Zermatt” into google maps to follow the route from say the station. Looking at the map, the best way to get there is to follow the river, roughly a 30 mins walk from the bahnhof.

    Hope that helps!

    Maria.

    Hi LightpackerC

Maria’s instructions will get you there. The Zermatt map is not very detailed; The Google Maps address is a bit more helpful, evn though it is the same map. It is easie ( for me at least) toplay w ith.

However, neither map shows a critical aspect of hiking in Switzerland. If you can read a topo map, this one does….although you have to do a bit of visula cross- referencing with restaurants, and the fork in the river to get the exact place in the SwissTopo map.

Zermatt is at avbout 1616 meters altitude, and the 1700 meter contour line runs alaong the edge of the gorge. So, you’ll climb about 84 meters to get there, over a distance of about 1 and 1/2 km from the center of Zermatt.

The yellow marked trail to the west of the river is an easy one. It is a road.
