Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a month-long stay in Interlaken and has questions about using the Interlaken Guest Card. They want suggestions for scenic hikes starting from train or bus stations nearby and scenic post bus rides in the area. They're looking for local advice to enhance their experience.

Key takeaways:
  • The Interlaken Guest Card offers free transport within a limited area, so check its validity map before traveling.
  • For broader travel opportunities, consider getting a Berner Oberland Pass instead.
  • The bus ride to Iseltwald is scenic and connects to hiking trails like Giessbach.

We will get a month long interlaken guest card
, and will plan to do bus hopping and train hopping with it.

do you have suggestions on the trail heads that starts right off from a train station or a bus station around the area ( Interlaken and wilderswil) ?

the most scenic hikes around the area that the Interlaken guest card can take you?  Scenic post bus rides?

    Thanks all 😉

    Hi Starss,

The Interlaken Guest Card provides free use of buses and train services within its validity area. This includes services between Interlaken and Wilderswil and also to Iseltwald, Unterseen and Ringgenberg. Boat trips on Lake Brienz and Lake Thun are discounted. And you will have to purchase additional tickets to travel outside of the validity area for instance if you are going to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald.

I’d check the validity map and see what is included.

Interlaken (https://www.myswissalps.com/town/interlaken/) is good base to explore the Jungfrau region but the Interlaken Guest Card only covers a small area.

    Best regards,
    Anna

    Hello again

You really need to carefully consider what Anna is saying in her reply one.  I would particularly stress that the Interlaken Guest Card only covers a small area‘.

In marked contrast to both Saastal and Gstaad, you can do very little ‘bus hopping and train hopping’ with the Interlaken guest card.  In marked contrast to to both Saastal and Gstaad there are no really scenic bus rides I can recommend.

The bus ride to Isetwald is nice, and you can then hike on to Giessbach.

If you want to do a lot of bus, train, and boat hopping from your one month Interlaken base you should invest in a Berner Oberland Pass.

Best wishes for your detailed planning.
