Golden Pass reservations with a Saver Day Pass

Short summary – read this first

Doc Phil is planning a trip from Geneva to Interlaken using the Saver Day Pass on May 19. He needs help with reserving a seat on the Golden Pass train since he can't purchase the Saver Day Pass more than 60 days in advance. He received helpful advice about how reservations work and discounts available for Saver Day Pass holders.

Key takeaways:
  • You don't need to reserve seats on the Golden Pass, but you can if you prefer extra assurance.
  • The 100% discount for reservations applies to the Saver Day Pass too, meaning no ticket is needed for the ride.
  • You can reserve your seat independently from purchasing the Saver Day Pass.
  • Consider checking online for reservation availability and purchasing links prior to your trip.

    Hi Forum members.

I have decided to make use of a Saver Day Pass on the 19th of May 2019 to travel from Geneva to Interlaken. Bearing in mind that the Golden Pass is included in the Saver Day Pass, I have decided to travel the leg between Montreux and Interlaken with a Golden Pass. The only challenge that I am experiencing right now is how to reserve your seat on the Golden Pass train without the Saver Day Pass, because you can’t buy your Saver Day Pass more than 60 days in advance.

    Forum please help.

    Many thanks !

    Doc Phil.

    Hi Doc Phil

In general you don’t need reservations (have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/tickets) but if you would really like one you can buy it here: http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/packages

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Maria.

Thank you for your quick response !

On the reservation page they mentioned that Swiss Pass holders are getting 100% discount. Is it applicable on a Saver Day Pass ticket as well ?

Do you get the discount when you reserve your seat, because I don’t have a Saver Day Pass as yet (more than 60 days).

Your help is much appreciated Maria !

    Hi Doc Phil,

Yes, the 100% discount applies to the Saver Day Pass too. You can compare coverage here:

This applies to the fares of the rides. So in other words: you don’t need a ticket. Reservations are always extra if you want those.

    Hi Arno.

Thank you for your answer ! I appreciate it !

Is it possible to reserve your seat from Geneva to Montreux 60 days ahead of your traveling time (using a Saver Day Pass)?

Your advice is helping me tremendously !

    Thank you.

    HI Doc Phil

The 2 products are independent so you don’t need to have the Saver Day Pass before you buy your reservation (price will remain the same).

The reservation and the ticket are 2 different things – the ticket is free with the Pass (so no ticket needed) but the reservation is not. Hope that makes sense 🙂

You don’t need reservations but if you want extra security you can buy the Golden Pass reservation from the link in my previous message. Geneva to Montreux is regular trains (mass transit) – no reservations required.
