You can simply take a train from Lucerne to Engelberg, then catch a shuttle bus or take a short walk to the base gondola station for the trip up to Mt. Titlis. It is easy to find since lots of folks are going there. The train to Engelberg is covered under the STP, and the gondola rides up to Titlis are discounted 50% with the STP. You will need to get the gondola tickets are the base station.

According to the SBB timetable, the trains from Lucerne to Engelberg leave at 10 minutes after the hour, every hour. There are lots of day trip opportunities while staying in Lucerne.
