The railway from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen (the Berner Oberland Bahn – BOB) is a different track gauge to the railway from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen (Wengernalp Bahn – WAB), so you have to switch trains at Lauterbrunnen. This is arranged simply, and caters for thousands of passengers a day

Hi Sewchek–changing trains with suitcases at Lauterbrunnen to take the cog wheel train up to Wengen is easy and the travel time is only 15 minutes or so. An added plus is the beautiful view you will have of the Lauterbrunnen Valley as you ascend to Wengen!

    Hi

Something else to keep in mind. The last time I was there the train leaving Interlaken Ost was in 2 sections. Further along the line the train split in 2 and 1 section went to Lauterbrunnen and the other went to Grindelwald (I assume they still do this), so make sure you are in the right carriage before you leave. If you are in the wrong section, don’t panic, you can change carriages at the Widerswil stop.

    Cheers

    Alan
