A traveler named Stephanjoe is planning a trip and is curious if 7 minutes is enough time to transfer between platform 7 and 4 at a station. They are also looking for a platform map for Interlaken Ost and West stations to aid in their travel plans.
Key takeaways:
7 minutes is more than enough time to make the transfer between platforms 7 and 4 at the station.
There are clear signages to guide you to the correct platform, so familiarize yourself with them before boarding.
For information, check the attached map of Interlaken Ost to locate features like ramps that can help with luggage.
Accessibility to a hotel like Grandhotel Giessbach may involve infrequent boats or buses, so plan ahead for your return after dinner.

That is plenty to go from platform 7 to 4. There are good connections even if you miss the train, there will be next one and the punctuality and frequency of trains extremely good , I would n’t worry much. I stayed 4 nights in interlaken and boarded trains at both stations interlaken ost and west

As mentioned by chandraks, there is more than enough time to get from one platform to another, even from platform 7 to 4. It is good to find out about which platform u need to get to before each boarding and u can head straight to the platform. There are signages to show u the way to each platforms.

Hi Stephanjoe,
There is a plan of Interlaken Ost station attached to the thread below, near the bottom of the page
It will be helpful to note where the ramps are at Interlaken Ost (near Sector B on the platform). These of course are easier to use than stairs, when travelling with luggage.

Many thanks. Would you by any chance have also a plan for Interlaken West? Much appreciated!

No, sorry! I think it’s a much smaller station and might only have two platforms. Do you have a change of train there?
General information about the station is here, but doesn’t include a station plan:
The information does indicate that there is step-free access to and from platforms (“Stufenloser Perronzugang (Lift / Rampe)”). In this case, I would expect it to be a ramp.

Hi Stephanjoe,
Interlaken West is a small station with only two tracks, and you’d never change trains there. You can change from a bus to a train though, but the bus stop is right beside the tracks so very easy. There’s also a boat dock next to the station.

Thanks again for your prompt response.
if you’re familiar with the area, do you know if accessibility to the Grandhotel Giessbach is an issue. We’re interested in spending few days there but concerned that based on info collected from the web, access to the hotel is limited, especially in evenings after dinner somewhere else.
The hotel is pretty isolated but can be reached by boat (recommended), bus and car. The boats and buses do not operate frequently. It’s a wonderful place but doing day trips from there requires planning, and having dinner elsewhere most probably requires a taxi to get back.
The thread ‘Interlaken Ost train station 7 min platform change’ is closed to new replies.
