Is visiting Grindelwald in late November fine?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Marivic is planning a one-day visit to Interlaken and Grindelwald on November 27. She wants to know if it's a good time to go, considering it’s low season. Even though some mountain transport may be closed, it's still a great time for stunning views and day trips to places like Jungfraujoch.

Key takeaways:
  • You can still enjoy beautiful mountain views in late November despite it being low season.
  • Make sure to consider alternative routes like Interlaken-Grindelwald-Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch for a scenic day.
  • Check ahead for operational lifts, as not all transport options will be available until mid-December.
  • Consider purchasing a Swiss Travel Pass for ease of travel across public transport options.

    Hi Marivic!

For a 1-day visit to Interlaken/Grindelwald, late November is no problem. It’s low season indeed (https://www.myswissalps.com/besttimetovisit), and some of Grindelwald’s mountain transportation (e.g. to First and Männlichen) won’t be operational.

But you can still enjoy views of the snowy mountains, and you could travel up to Kleine Scheidegg or even all the way to Jungfraujoch if you like. A nice round trip would be Interlaken-Grindelwald-Kleine Scheidegg-(Junfraujoch-)Wengen-Lauterbrunnen-Interlaken.

How about late October? Will First and Männlichen still be operational?

    Hi 500Height,

The cable cars to First and Männlichen are operational until 24 October. They will reopen again in mid December after maintenance work. Please click on the links for more information on each destination.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi Anna,

Thank you very much for the information. I will go to Grindelwald first before the lift stops operation. Then, visit other places in Switzerland.

    Best regards,

    500Height
