A traveler returning to Switzerland is staying in Zurich for a few days and is considering a trip to Jungfraujoch after enjoying Mt. Titlis. They're looking for advice on whether the trip is worth it and if there are cheaper options available, as they found prices around US$250 per person for a day trip in early September.
Key takeaways:
If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, you can visit Schilthorn for free, which offers a different but enjoyable experience.
Consider other mountain destinations like Kleine Scheidegg or First Mountain, which may provide better value and fewer crowds.
Check ahead of time for any construction or closures at Jungfraujoch, as some areas might not be accessible during your visit.

Visitied and enjoyed Mt Titlis 3 y ago. Returnign to Switzerland, staying in Zurich for a couple of days. Is is worth it to go to the Jungfrauoch after being in Mt Titlis? Is there a less expensive way to get there? I cannot find an option lower than US$250 a person for the day trip. It will be early September , not sure of wether either. Any advise?
Well, opinions differ and it’s a personal choice. I do think the trip up to Jungfraujoch is special, and so is the world of snow and ice you’ll end up in. Others think it’s too pricy. Please read up at http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch and decide for yourself.

I personally think Jungfraujoch has been overcommercialised and is now too expensive for what you get, especially as the train is inside the mountain most of the way.
Her’s one quote I found:
We visited this part of Switzerland many years ago when the buildings were small and made mostly of wood. I guess this was before the travel bug had grown to the numbers today – 5,000 visitors a day!!!
The place has changed so much we couldn’t get away fast enough. The overpowering impression was of very spicy food and exhibitions that were underwhelming. We met a few local people on our tour of the Bernese Oberland and none of them had a good word about the “experience”. There are many other mountain railway trips that are much better.
Fully agree with 1960man and the quote in his post. I visited Jungfraujoch last year with high expectations of a magical experience. Instead I got crowds of people stopping every 2 minutes blocking the way to take selfies, nowhere to sit and admire the view except in a glorified curry house, already feeling queezy due to altitude and the smell of spicy food made that worse. Got away as fast as I could and returned to the lower station Kleine Scheidegge. I did enjoy the trip up to that station and that is worth doing but the extra we paid to go through a tunnel to the top was a complete waste to me. I would recommend the trip to Kleine Scheidegge though. Or possibly if in Grindelwald one of the station the train up there leaves from I would recommend First Mountain which I think has more to offer, Of course all this is my opinion but others do seem to agree on Jungfraujoch.
The thread ‘I have seen Titlis, is Jungfraujoch worth a visit?’ is closed to new replies.
