Learning how to ski in Wengen

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a second visit to Switzerland this January, having previously enjoyed Lauterbrunnen and Wengen. They are inquiring about Wengen as a good place to learn skiing for themselves and their child, planning a 4-day stay with 3 days dedicated to lessons. The traveler is also looking for fun activities for their child while their husband, an intermediate skier, practices.

Key takeaways:
  • Wengen-Grindelwald ski area is great for beginners with many easy slopes.
  • Book ski lessons with a professional instructor to maximize learning for both you and your child.
  • For children, consider the Männlichen Children's Paradise for specialized ski lessons.
  • Your child may learn faster, so 3 days may be enough for good progress.

    Hi guys,

planning my 2nd visit to Switzerland this Jan 2020. I have been to Lauterbrunnen and Wengen in June this year, so so beautiful and magical place. Thank you for all the tips and advice given last time.

Is it Wengen is good place to learn for Ski for my kid and myself. We plan for 4 days stay and if 3 days learning is sufficient? I plan for fun activity only for my kid. Ny husband is intermediate level. Kindly advice

    Hi Bear2019,

yes, the Wengen-Grindelwald ski area is ideal for beginners, as there are plenty of easy slopes. I suggest to book ski lessons with a professional teacher. In 3 days you can develop a lot, but it is difficult to say which level you will achieve because it depends on you.

    Usually children learn faster 🙂

There is a ski school just for children in Männlichen, called Männlichen Children’s Paradise.
