Is the express luggage service available from hotels in: Zurich to Bern, Bern to Lausanne, Lausanne to Zurich. If not, can luggage be checked at those three train stations just as one does at an airport?

Hello llachat138 and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

I doubt that there are luggage services from hotel to hotel, unless one of the hotels offers such a service. You would have to check with the hotels themselves.

With the SBB, the Swiss rail company you have the following options available:

Hope this helps. Get back to us otherwise.

    Best,

I thought this was possible with the door to door express service. The collection and delivery points must have postal addresses in Switzerland. I have never used this. I did use the flight luggage several years ago. Swiss luggage delivery is very reliable and have used station to station many times. Have a wonderful trip.

What you can do is fully explained at http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/luggage/luggage.html.

The problem is that SBB seem to change their offerings on a regular basis and interpreting what is and isn’t feasible is a bit of a nightmare (for an old bloke like me at any rate).

I prefer to just haul my luggage with me. It’s easier. 😉

    Steph:

There is a video on your web site showing luggage being picked up at an address in Switzerland, and then delivered to a hotel via a train.

The express ,service says in can be done the same day. I even filled out an online form up to the point of payment. But I still have question before I order. Is there some one familiar with this service?

    Hi Larry-

If the Swiss say they will do it, they will.

    Hi Larry,

With the “Luggage special” service you can do that, but to make sure please ask your hotel too. Maybe not all hotels are willing to do that.

Last time I’ve checked there was no same day luggage delivery service, just next day or even after (2 days).

    Hi Larry,

Have you thought of contacting SBB. As I mentioned before their luggage transfer options are a bit of a mystery to mere mortals as evidenced by the sort of answers you have got so far on this forum.

Let us know how you go so we can be better equipped (albeit temporarily) to answer similar questions in the future.

ps I don’t think MySwissAlps contains the video you described. Perhaps the SBB site does but I can’t find it. Can you send the link so we can all enjoy it?

Here is the current special offer –

    http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/luggage/luggage/special.html

“Swiss11” used the normal service last September to send luggage from Wengen station to her inn in Sachseln for delivery to days later:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/visit-to-switzerland-in-september-trip-report

On the-in-between day she raveled with light luggage when she visited the Emmental.

These are the current “regular” (not “special offer”) – services.

I have used the station to station many times. Works well. I have not used the others.

There is an SBB contact number mentioned in this tangentially related hread – http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/sbb-express-luggage-transfer-from-abroad-flight.

”in order to get to an English speaking representative, you need to press 4 after you call the 0848446688 number”

    Also contact details at http://www.myswissalps.com/aboutus/partners/sbb.

    Hi Larry,

Did you manage to talk to anyone from the SBB?

According to the SBB website, they do provide an express door-to-door service but limited to selected destinations. When you opt for express delivery, the SBB will send your luggage to your destination address on the same day. You can find more information here:
    http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/luggage/luggage/door-to-door/locations.html

The listed destinations are listed here:
    http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/luggage/luggage/door-to-door/locations.html

The listed contact detail is: SBB Contact Center 0848 44 66 88
I think it’s best to go direct to the station and ask about the services personally.

    Hope that helps.

    Anna
