Luggage transfer from Interlaken Ost to Geneva

Short summary – read this first

Ganesh is planning a trip to Interlaken on December 17th and needs advice on handling his luggage. He wants to ensure he can transfer his luggage to Cornavin Station, ride the Golden Pass without his bags, and still catch his flight from Geneva at 18:20. He is looking for options for luggage storage and transfer services.

Key takeaways:
  • You can leave your luggage at Interlaken Ost or West stations before your trip.
  • There's currently no same-day luggage delivery service offered by SBB, so dropping off your bags a day early is a good option.
  • Make sure your luggage doesn't exceed 25 kg, as that's the limit for train travel.
  • Traveling with luggage is common on Swiss trains, so you'll find enough space for your bags.

    Dear Experts,

    Is it possible to :

    1. Go to Interlaken OST on 17 december 2019 at 7.30am to 8.30am with my luggage.

    2. Make payment to transfer our luggage to Cornavin Station.(is there such service available)

    3. Get on the Golden Pass (luggage free) after that from Interlaken OST.

    4. Enjoy the scenic view till Montreaux.

    5. Get back to Cornavin Station and pick up the luggage from Cornavin Station.

    6. Get on our flight at 18.20pm from Geneva Cointrin(GVA).

    Thank you..

    Regards,

    Ganesh

    Hi Ganesh, welcome to MySwissAlps!

As far as I’m aware, the SBB don’t offer any same-day delivery luggage service at the moment. Please find out about the options by reading the information and studying the links provided at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/practical/luggage. If you hand in your luggage a few days prior to departure, you will be able to collect it at the Geneva Cornavin station.

I don’t know how many pieces of luggage you’ll be carrying, but note that traveling with luggage in Swiss trains is quite common, as explained on the page I linked to. Most trains provide enough space for your backpacks and suitcases, and transfer times between trains usually allow enough time to carry your bags, especially on the Golden Pass line where the change in Zweisimmen is pretty straightforward. Please refer to http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass for further details.

Hi and Good day to you,

    Thanks for the reply..

We have 2 bags of 25kg each to be sent from Interlaken to Cornavin.

    1. Is it possible to go to Interlaken station(not sure ost or east or west) on 16th December 2019, maybe around 3pm to 5pm and leave our luggage there.

    2. Pick up the luggage from Cornavin station on 17th December 2019 at around 3pm..?

Actually it is also possible for us to drop off the luggage on the 15th December 2019 ..

    Thank you..
    Regards,

    Hi Ganesh,

Dropping on the 15th and collecting on the 17th would work without paying extra for express delivery. Please see the links under “More on other websites” on the page Annika linked to.

Ost means East, it’s the same station :-). You can drop the luggage at Interlaken Ost or West, whatever suits you best.

25 kg is the limit, so make sure it’s not more than that.

    Enjoy your trip!
