Dear Old Guy,
The luggage transport service is available to all SBB customers with a valid ticket. You can choose to have the luggage delivered straight to your accommodation in Zermatt or just delivered to the railway station in Zermatt. Station-to-station service is the generally the cheapest option.
You can find further information and links to SBB luggage transport services here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/public-transport/luggage/

Hello again, Old Guy,
I have used the luggage transfer extensively over the last two years. It gives one the freedom of traveling between destinations without having to drag their luggage around. It’s a fantastic way of traveling. As Anna mentioned, as long as you have a ticket, you’re good to go. At the time of sending your luggage, they will ask to see a ticket (the Swiss Travel Pass in my case), and it should cost CHF 12.00 per suitcase/piece of luggage. (Unless it has gone up since this past October). In Lugano, there is a relatively large SBB office right at the train station where it can be done, or they can direct you to do it. I send it to the next station, as there is that additional charge to send it right to your hotel or other destination. When you do send it, you can pick it up 2 days later, and always ask when the closing hours are at the pick-up destination. In Zermatt, I believe they’re open until 1900 hrs, and it is located along platform 5, about halfway down on the right. It is a great convenience that I can’t recommend enough to people. Again, have a great trip.

Danielsan

Thanks Danielsan.
That is what I plan to do. My only concern is that my ticket will not be the same route as the bags will travel. I do not think the bags would go to Zermatt via Tirano and St. Moritz which is what we are doing. I am fairly confident that as long as the combined tickets cover between Lugano and Zermatt, regardless of the route I take, the ticket would be valid. We won’t be using Swiss Travel Pass but will have 1/2 fare card and individual 1st. class tickets.
Thank you for taking the time to advise.
Best Regards
Old Guy

Hello Old Guy again,
It doesn’t matter which way you are going. As long as it gets there when you are in Zermatt and want to pick it up, you’re good to go. There is no need for you to worry how it gets there. That’s exactly what you’re paying the CHF 12.00 for. Again, enjoy your trip.

Danielsan

I’ve always wanted to use the SBB luggage service. However, I am flying in from the US, and while the SBB offers luggage pickup from the airport (in my case, Zurich), since I’m not flying on the specific airlines, they don’t offer delivery to my destination (hotel), just the train station. Which is not an issue for me, since my hotel is literally across the street from the train station, it’s no bother picking up luggage. But the last time I looked, they don’t offer express same day delivery (to Murren), only 2 day delivery.
Has that changed? I tried to find that info, but the SBB site is less than clear on that aspect (that I can tell). I know there’s an extra charge for same day delivery vs 2 day delivery, which is fine.
Sorry if I am hijacking the thread.

Hi Turgon,
The SBB express list does not include Mürren as one of their express delivery locations.
Lauterbrunnen would be your closest express location for delivery.
Kind regards,
Yolanda

Thanks, that’s what I suspected. While it’s easy enough to get from Lauterbrunnen to Murren on the cable car and train, it’s always so over crowded, you’re packed in like sardines. Trying to get on with 2 full size cases would be aggravating. It would be easier to use the private service, which does offer express to Murren, which is what I have done in the past. I was just hoping to use the actual SBB services.
