Montreux one day trip

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a day trip from Paris to Montreux, wanting to visit a chocolate factory, cheese factory, and Chillon Castle, and also enjoy the Golden Pass train ride to Interlaken. They are looking for advice on whether this tight schedule is doable in one day.

Key takeaways:
  • It's ambitious to cover all activities in one day; consider your travel times carefully and be prepared for a long day on trains.
  • Using the SBB timetable app can help you effectively plan your trip.
  • Consider skipping Chillon Castle to save time, or take a faster route to Interlaken via Bern.
  • If you plan to travel on the Golden Pass train, be aware it takes at least 3 hours from Montreux to Interlaken.

    Hi pankaj.goel,

That would be quite ambitious to do in one day. Assuming you arrive in Geneva early morning, you would need 1 hour to travel to Montreux, then around 20 mins to reach the Chillon castle: http://www.myswissalps.com/chilloncastle. The regional train from Montreux takes you to Broc (Chocolate Factory) in 1.5 hours, from there to Gruyeres (Cheese Factory) in another 30 mins. Will you be travelling with your luggage throughout this journey or leaving them in storage in Montreux? If you are planning to travel on the Golden Pass train from Montreux to Interlaken via Zweisimmen, the journey will take you at least 3 hours.

In short you’d be spending a long time on the train in one day.

I highly recommend using the SBB timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your journey. You can download the mobile app from this page (http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/practic al/websites)

    Regards,

    Anna

Consider skipping the castle, or taking the faster route to Interaken via Bern.

    When are you traveling?

Thanks. Good time to visit Montreux and the region around Gruyeres and Broc. However, with thyat very difficult schedule, you won’t have much time to enjoy things like a walk along the lake from Montreux station to the castle.
