No confirmation e-mail for Glacier Express booking

Short summary – read this first

John is worried because he hasn't received a confirmation email for his Glacier Express reservation from Zermatt to St. Moritz, which was booked yesterday. He has already checked his spam and emailed the company but hasn't received a reply. He's looking for any advice on how to resolve the issue and ensure he can enjoy this highlight of his trip.

Key takeaways:
  • If you book directly with Glacier Express, they might take a couple of days to respond, so be patient.
  • If you have a 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass, you can get a discounted upgrade to 1st class for your journey.
  • Check the official Glacier Express schedule and booking page to confirm when your desired travel dates are available.

Hi, Yesterday I did 2 first class seat reservations on the Glacier Express, Zermatt to St Moritz. Everything seemed to go ok and at the end of the booking it gave me an order number and a message saying an Order Confirmation email will be sent soon. A payment has been taken out of my bank account. Just a bit concerned about why I haven’t received this email as other bookings I have done come through in under 15 mins. I have checked for spam and also emailed them, but no reply as yet. Not sure if there is anything else I can do. Any advice would be great .

    Thanks in advance

    John

    Hi John,

Sometimes this happens due to technical glitches. If you still haven’t received the confirmation email or response, please provide your booking references. Perhaps we can assist in escalating the matter with the Glacier Express operator.

    Regards,

    Anna

Thanks Anna for your offer, the order # 2300059212. Hope I haven’t jumped in too early but this train journey is the highlight of our trip, so we don’t want miss it and disrupt the rest of our journey.

    Thanks John

    Hi John!

I understand that you want to get this solved quickly. If you’ve booked through an official partner of ours we can indeed jump in and contact them. But if you’ve booked directly at the Glacier Express website, I’m afraid we can’t do much. Sorry if this caused confusion.

I’m pretty confident you’ll receive your reservations and/or an answer to your question within the next few days. Please keep us posted!

I read the concern above about Glacier express booking and no email. I am traveling on May 20th on Glacier Ex (I hope) and need to make seat reservations. I have Swiss Pass 2nd class. Will go from Chur to Brig.

    1. When can I book? at 12:01 Swiss time on the 16th of Feb? (which is 5:01 CST on the 15th.

    2. What is cost differential from 2nd class pass to first?

Should I book with Glacier Express or another entity?

Thank you ever so much. You’ve really helped!

Thankyou everyone, this has now been resolved. Received an email with the confirmation of the reservation in that.

    Cheers

    Hi Galvgirl!

    1. I just checked and booking for May 20 seems to be possible now. You can use any of the options listed at https://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets.

    2. A 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass entitles you to a discounted class upgrade ticket (http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/2nd1stclass). This was a 50% discount in 2022, so you’d pay half of the difference between the 1st and 2nd class price of a specific route. I don’t know the exact discount percentage for this year. But assuming a similar discount, an upgrade ticket for the Glacier Express route would cost CHF 58. You can get it at a railway station in Switzerland upon showing your Swiss Travel Pass.

If you have further questions that aren’t closely related to Jkskin’s original question, you can best open a new thread.

    Hello Galvgirl,

Yes, you can book a seat reservation now for May 20th 🙂 In regard to the ticket price differences for 2nd and 1st, the best thing to do here is key in your destinations on the timetable page and here will see the price differences. Be sure to view the “Glacier Express” train, as there are other trains operating from Chur to Brig: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

More information on ticketing options can be found here : https://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
