My outdoor activity options in the Jungfrau Region during mid April?
A traveler named KMR is planning a week-long trip to Switzerland from Italy in mid-April, focusing on outdoor activities in the Grindelwald/Jungfrau region and visiting Lucerne and Bern. They are seeking advice on whether it’s feasible to enjoy these activities during that time, especially regarding skiing and hiking options.
- The ski season in the Jungfrau region runs until mid-April, so skiing is a great option for outdoor activities.
- The cable car to Grindelwald First operates throughout April, but adventure activities like First Glider and First Flyer start in May.
- Hiking to Bachalpsee may be difficult due to snow; check for trail conditions before planning your visit.
- For food tastings, consider stopping at Gruyères or Montreux as they both offer culinary experiences.
- Research available activities in Bern and other cities to make the most of your trip.

We will be heading to Switzerland from Italy mid April for about a week. Thinking of visiting Lucerne, Grindelwald First, Bern and leaving out Geneva. Is it wishful thinking to spend most of our time doing outdoor activities in Grindelwald/Jungfrau region in mid April? My thoughts were over night in Lucerne then head to Grindelwald for 2-3 days. After, go to Bern or just head down toward Geneva. We like to do food tastings. Thinking of visiting Gruyeres or Montreux on the way. We have not booked anything yet. Want to know best options during this time of year. Thanks
